- It is literally an electronic transfer included, transmission of data, text, images, etc, from one terminal to the other. It allows the following facilities:
- Store and forward: They are held until they are requested by the recipient. Service can be used by either party at whatever time and on whatever day suits them.
- Copies can be sent automatically on a distribution list.
- The sender can be told when the recipient has read the message and immediate reply can be demanded
- Off line working-text can be prepared in advance of transmission and message can be saved for use within word processing documents.

- The facilities include-fax, telex, etc.

- The software is user friendly and helps the user in preparing and distributing his name, date and time stamped to the message. The receiver is notified about the pending mails as soon as he logs in and the mails are displayed on his terminal with the senders name, date and the time of origin of the message. A permanent search stored record of the received message can also be maintained.
- The mail system provides for addition or deletion of messages and can maintain online file into which he can copy incoming mail for future searches on sender’s name, date and subject.
- The mail can be discarded after viewing on his terminal. Mails generally contain information in a format such as letter, memo, graph,etc.
